Zhang et al. (2024) report a candidate common proper motion companion 1.44 arcseconds away from TOI-402 (64.5 AUs at 44.8 pc). Depending on estimated luminosity the companion could be a faint M dwarf star or a brown dwarf (see ExoFOP TESS table "Stellar Companions"), the former option being favoured by Ziegler et al. (2020).
