Joncour et al. (2017) deem KPNO-Tau 2 and KPNO-Tau 12 to be gravitationally bound to protostar IRAS 04158+2805 being located 22,288 and 80,679 AUs away respectively. Likely physical association to close binary LkCa 7 (1470 arcseconds away, ~191,000 AUs at 130 pc) could increase system complexity.

Likely tertiary companion of young binary LkCa 7 1470 arcseconds away (~191,000 AUs at 130 pc). LkCa 7 is a pair of M-type protostars (m1 = 0.64 MSol and m2 = 0.33 MSol) separated by 148 AUs (Kraus et al. 2011).
