Mugrauer & Michel (2024) detect a low-mass (m = 0.125 MSol) M dwarf companion star 5,308 AUs away whereas Behmard et al. (2022) report a farther third companion star 23,321 AUs without providing information about mass or physical parameters.
According to parallax this actually might coincide with 2MASS J14124195+4701058, a late G dwarf about to evolve off the Main Sequence (T = 5391 ± 112 K, m = 0.94 ± 0.113 MSol, r = 1.265 ± 0.064 RSol). Hence HAT-P-44 might be part of a triple system and possibly as secondary rather than primary component.
