Xue & Niu (2020): The unseen orbiting companion could be a white dwarf (0.15 < M₂ < 0.6 M_Sol) assuming an inclination of 6°, although a brown dwarf (28 < M₂ < 72 M_Jup) appears a more likely explanation. Nevertheless the atmosphere of DY Peg shows an excess of the α-elements calcium and sulfur and a more significant excess of carbon, which point to a degenerate companion like a hot white dwarf.
